Baby alpacas are called 'cria's.
Pronounced as cree-arr.

They average 6-8kg at birth & are usually up & walking within an hour of being born.

They drink from their mother for about 6 months.

They are very playful & enjoy racing around the paddock as fast as they can!

Oak Grove Farm

The farm enjoys 180 degree views across the valley to the great dividing range.

It is an easy 15 minute drive from Bega & only 20 minutes from the beaches of the beautiful south coast.

Approximately 6-7 hours from Sydney & Melbourne, &
3 hours from Canberra.

The alpaca, llama & other members of the South American camelid family have existed for thousands of years & can be seen depicted in the cave paintings at Toquepala, Peru.


The ancient Inca domesticated the alpaca & llama.

They were used for fleece & as pack animals, as well as food & symbols of fertility.
